The production, created by Red PR and videographer, Rob Norton, uses traditional video and stop motion photography, visually represents Queensland’s average annual road toll using 305 tea-light candles positioned in the shape of the word ‘pledge’.

Viewers can select to pledge by clicking on the lit up word and upon doing so are taken to the second half of the video.

Senior Marketing Advisor for Suncorp Insurance, Natalie Choules said the aim of the video was to create another platform for people to ‘pledge’ their support for a Fatality Free Friday and show their commitment to safer driving.

“We wanted to do something that not only carried a strong message but would also inspire people to think about the rate of road fatalities in this country and pledge to make a difference.

“You-tube was an ideal platform to tap into the ever increasing digital audience and engage with them.

“We also utilised social media and quick response (QR) codes, scannable by smartphones to distribute the clip – it‟s wonderful to be able to utilise social media to engage the community and spread such an important message,” she said.

Fatality Free Friday, an annual initiative that began in 2007, aims to have just one day on record where there is not a single road death in Australia – one Fatality Free Friday.
