XYZ Studios launches new portable media platform interactive company Wheelbarrow
XYZ founder and director Tim Kentley has launched a new company with music publisher Matt Tanner, illustrator and author Nick Bland and producer Adrian Shapiro.
Called Wheelbarrow the company will specialise in creating content for portable media platforms, such as the Apple iPad, iPhone and Android products. Its launch title is the conversion of Bland’s award winning and best selling children’s book, ‘The Very Cranky Bear’ into an interactive ebook. The book is directed by XYZ’s Eran Hilelli, read by actor Angus Sampson and original score by Helen Croome and is available on the App Store from today.
Says Kentley: “XYZ was approached by Nick to create an ebook for him – I said can do, but will also found a company with you. Apps for portable platforms are really hot right now, and a brave new frontier as well. XYZ been well established in the cut and thrust of commercial animation, is perfectly placed to step the right people into this venture.”
Wheelbarrow will be a great resource for agencies stepping forward, who want to create campaigns that run the gamut of platforms all the way through to portable interactive.

We downloaded this last night, the kids love to hear themselves reading – great idea.
I’ve got this app on my iPhone & iPad and my 3 year old just loves it. Well done!
