Utter Utter patronizing shite, no wonder people hate westpac
know what? this is scary, what about those 3 androids at the end.
This work is pretty much encapsulates of the rubbish state of Australian advertising.
‘Down down’ conceptual integrity of Australian advertising is ‘down down’
Dear Bankers,
All of you, not just Wastepac.
You have my money.
But you don’t have my heart, my soul, my love, or even my best interests at heart.
You’re not my life partner, my financial soulmate, or my rock when times are tough.
I can do things – all the things that don’t require finance or credit – perfectly well without you.
My life is not shot in arty black and white, Tyriel Mora doesn’t voiceover my ever step.
I have low expectations of you, yet still, you fail to meet them.
I read your of your profits in the financial pages, at the same time you increase fees/rates/executive salaries.
Your cynicism astounds me.
I can’t believe countless focus groups haven’t told you these same things countless times before.
Yet still, you tell me you’re on my side, you’re there for me, while in the most shameful way, telling me I could be ‘living my best life’ with you by my side.
Please, please…
Take a long walk off a short pier.
Work to improve your standards and show me BY EXAMPLE what you’ve done to value our relationship.
Actions speak louder than 60 second spots.
Until then, get out of my prime-time face
Third world advertising. Surely we’re better than this.
This is lazy, boring and weak. Please try harder.
The worst advertising I’ve seen in years…. Westpac and ANZ.
What is going on?
Me thinks this is the worst bank campaign out of all of the current offerings.
Nothing is as bad as the Medibank campaign.
From those wonderful folks who brought you Coles ‘Down Down’…another stinker.
Amazing how CGI has developed, look into their eyes they look almost human.
Toss the chimps the same brief at Taronga Zoo and they’d come up with something better than this.
Cut to next marketing review: “If we knew then what we know now, we never would have run this sanctimonious, tepid drivel”
So. Ad guys don’t like it. This may just work.
As bad as it gets. “We know how”. Are you serious? You know how to be a bank?
I’m sure the DM is nice though.
The agency will be absolutely destroyed about these comments. But only in between invoices….
Beige sums it up really.
Strangely this campaign reminds me of the movie Nell.. “We know how now Chickabee’.. “Westpac in da wind”..
The worst ads I’ve seen in years. Takes cringe to a whole new level.
It’s pretty big brother kind of stuff. And the cast are freaking creepy.
Rubbish!! Absolute Rubbish!! Who is this talentless clown??
How now brown cow!
I have put my own work on the blog. Fingers crossed people like it. My god, why would anyone put this on here? Death wish maybe? You have to at least put it there thinking someone might like it???? Might as well lie in front of traffic on this one.
‘WESTPAC’ – Australia’s first bank?
They are leveraging a big historical claim to legitimise their wishy washy bland statements that actually mean nothing from a large bank.
No, Westpac wasn’t Australia’s first bank. Westpac is a bigger, uglier version of the Bank of New South Wales, which was actually the first. Westpac was formed as an NEW merged company in 1982.
It’s just a marketing rewrite of history to claim the brand name WESTPAC was Australia’s first bank, as they imply. They believe if they say it enough times unchallenged people will just except that Westpac has been around for 194 years.
So they didn’t know then, or know now.
Which makes these ads even worse.
At WORSTPAC they know how….
They announce they will be getting rid of 1000 staff because they only made $6 billion profit.
I know one if the scapegoats asked to leave because he helped a nearly 90 year old with bowel cancer customer too sick to get into branch wanted $100 taken from his account and taken to him at home.
Australias WORST bank
