Venture backed FutureMe appoints Hardhat as new agency to lead global growth

FutureMe, part of the Memories Group, has appointed independent agency Hardhat following a competitive pitch. The agency will help turbocharge FutureMe’s growth in key markets including the US, UK, Brazil and Australia.

FutureMe was created in 2002 as a “weekend hack” based on a simple and compelling concept: write a letter to your future self. Over two decades, FutureMe has organically evolved into an enduring brand revered by many millions of users around the world.

6 million people have since written over 13 million letters to the future, that continue to be delivered from the past to the present, evoking increasingly profound reactions.

The brand also offers FutureMe Pro, an enterprise subscription product, which has been enthusiastically embraced by businesses around the world.

Earlier this year, Memories Group added FutureMe to its growing portfolio of ‘digital legacy’ properties.

Says Imogen Griffiths, head of brand, PR and content for Memories Group: “We’re thrilled to be working with Hardhat to grow this unique and highly compelling brand. The power of FutureMe is clear from its organic growth to date, and its future trajectory is really exciting.”

Says Dan Monheit, cofounder and strategy director, Hardhat: “FutureMe is such a beautifully simple idea that has captured the imagination of millions. It’s a privilege to be charged with introducing the service to millions more worldwide, in a way that stays true to the brand’s humble beginnings.”

The first creative work will be in market for mid November to coincide with Thanksgiving in the US.

Hardhat was founded in 2005 by Dan Monheit and Justin Kabbani. The agency, now a team of 50, builds brands through a combination of creativity and behavioural insights. Hardhat clients include Superhero, Bega Dairy and Drinks, Victoria University, Steggles, Simply Energy and DocuSign.
