Vale legendary copywriter Ray Ross
The ad industry will be saddened to hear of the passing of Ray Ross, one of Australia’s finest copywriters, aged 67.
During the 70s, Ross worked at Young & Rubicam in Sydney in its heyday, as well as Y&R in London. In around 1980, he joined Clemenger Sydney as a creative group head – working with the likes of John Bailey, Warwick Majcher and Dickie Dearing – where he remained until illness forced him out of the industry in the early 90s.
His most awarded work – with Dearing – was the Rice ‘sculptures’ campaign, which won a Gold Lion at Cannes in 1990.
He is survived by well-known former agency producer Debbie, his wife of over 40 years.
