The Sweet Shop director Melanie Bridge creates a colourful spectrum of fantasy in latest spot for Dulux ‘Weather’ via Clemenger BBDO Wellington
What if paint samples gave you a peek into the future? Just a quick little journey where you could see how your house looks in any weather, in any color and in any storm?
In this spot for Dulux paint, director Melanie Bridge takes her signature style in a new direction by blending the fantastic with the real. Embarking on what seems like a stop motion house painting adventure, Bridge creates a fun spot that blurs the lines between handcrafted animation and quirky computer animation.
Says Bridge: “The key thing that we always had to ask ourselves was whether it was believable that it had been created for real. We wanted it to look like the couple had actually painted and stop-framed the animation on their house themselves.”

Love Melanie….
Even Melanie Bridge can’t hide the fact that’s a technique ripped off Youtube.
What a boring colour to end on.
its a great idea.
Its a shame that the paint effect was a post effect and not done for real with the DULUX product
I like it. Nice.
i think aesthetically this looks great. but that’s about all it says. if it is trying to get the consumer to buy the product based on cool aesthetic association, then that is a weak strategy.
Is the frame rate jerky on anyone else’s computer???
I used to look and marvel at the images that Melanie used to create for our viewing pleasure, they all used have her own distinctive hallmark and quality. This , whilst well crafted, left me feeling me disappointed. The technique is already tired and the idea, is weak.
Why so angry, angry?
Why do I get this feeling its a copy?

This is the original. Seems like they even copied the sound.
