The Lab Sydney’s colourist Vincent Taylor relocates to Digital Pictures in Melbourne

The Lab Sydney and Digital Pictures together announced today that respected senior colourist, Vincent Taylor, will relocate to Melbourne. Taylor will now be available to clients across both facilities delivering continuity in colour grading services at The Lab Sydney and Digital Pictures in Melbourne.

Taylor is no stranger to the Melbourne film, television and commercial industry where he started his career over fifteen years ago as a cinematographer, winning twelve awards from the Australian Cinematographers’ Society and is a AFI nominated cinematographer. With a solid foundation in traditional film grading, he has experience across all mediums ranging from traditional telecine chains to the non-linear digital grading systems.

“Vincent is a well-respected, high-end colourist and will bring greatexperience working on film, television and commercial projects with theDigital Pictures team. We are fortunate that Vincent is staying in theOmnilab Media family. Vincent has a unique offering, because of his DOPbackground and having written and directed nine short films throughouthis career,” says John Fleming, general manager, Digital Pictures.

After five years based at The Lab, Taylor is excited about rekindlingrelationships in Melbourne whilst continuing to work with Sydneyclients. Says Taylor: “I have the best of both worlds because I will bereconnecting with Melbourne clients with opportunities to develop newrelationships whilst continuing to work with Sydney clients and themany talented and creative individuals at both facilities.”

The Lab Sydney’s executive producer, Alastair Stephen believes The Labis very lucky to be able to continue to offer Vincent’s creative talentto its Sydney clients: “Vincent has delivered versatile and dynamicstyles on a huge array of commercial projects for The Lab over theyears.”

These projects most recently include the Tourism Australia spot’There’s Nothing Like Australia’ with director Michael Gracey; Skins’Cheat Legal’ spot with director Noah Marshall; Telstra BigPond ‘Tbox’and BigPond ‘Kombi’ campaign with director John Polson; and he iscurrently working on Hyundai’s i20 launch with director Dael Oates.

Taylor has worked with prolific production companies such as ProdigyFilms, Brilliant Films, The Sweet Shop, Renegade Films, FilmConstruction, The Feds, Good Oil Films and Cherub Pictures. He hascollaborated on the colour grade on feature film South Solitary withThe Lab’s Head of DI, Al Hansen, completed the grade on SBS’ televisionseries First Australians and graded the most recent ARIA award-winningmusic video by the band Empire of the Sun.
