The good the bad and ugly of facial hair: ‘Facial’ photographic exhibition at Global Gallery

brock.pngFacial, an exhibition by photographer Brock Elbank (pictured left) being held from the 1st June, at Global Gallery, Paddington is an exploration and study of the good, the bad and the ugly of facial hair.

This is the first release in a series of shots Brock has taken over a period of 5 years. The exhibition showcases all manner of facial hair as part of the ‘Head On’ photo festival.

The facial project has grown into a labour of love for Brock. “What I wanted from the series was to exhibit large prints, so the viewer could interact with the images, see all the fine details and be engrossed by the shot. The exhibition prints will be 1m x 1.45m and the impact is amazing, it’s very powerful.”

As part of this exhibition there will be a portrait of Silverchair’s Daniel Johns available to purchase.

All proceeds from the sale of any portraits will go to Alzheimer’s Australia, a cause close to Brocks heart having lost his Mother to the disease.

WHAT: Facial – a study of hairy creations

WHEN: 1 June, 2011

TIME:  6 – 8pm

Following on from this Brock is currently working on a ‘bearded lady’ section, which will feature iconic Australian female celebrities, with a second exhibition planned, and eventually the release of a book. Look out for more news on this later this year!
