Australian shops in contention at The Global Awards honoring world’s best healthcare ads

Screen shot 2010-11-23 at 10.38.06 AM.jpgAustralian healthcare shops have performed brilliantly at the shortlist stage of The Global Awards, honoring creative and marketing excellence in healthcare communications worldwide. 148 finalists made the cut from 17 countries.

Langland UK took the lead with 10 Finalist nominations followed by McCann Healthcare Australia with 9 Finalists, Grey Healthcare Australia, and DeVito/Verdi USA, each with 8 Finalists. Torre Lazur McCann England scored 5 Finalists while Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare Sydney, along with Ogilvy CommonHealth USA, each had 4 Finalists. All Finalists go on to the secondary round of judging to determine medalists.

The Global Awards will host two award events this year, taking thecelebrations globally to the Sydney and New York. This year’s winners will be officially announced at both events inDecember.

 

On Monday, December 6, 2010, The Global Awards will host a cocktail partyin New York City, celebrating this year’s winners at the Eli KleinGallery,at the center of New York’s Soho district, 462 West Broadway.  Winningworks will be showcased at the gallery and trophies presented towinners in attendance by Michael Demetriades, Executive Director of TheGlobal Awards, and Tom Domanico, Chairman of The Global Awards AdvisoryBoard & GrandJury, as well as Chairman, CEO & WorldwideCreative Director of DraftFCB Healthcare. 

The awards in Sydney will be presented by The Global Awards and Bravo!,a group of Australian healthcare professionals, with representationfrom healthcare agencies, the Advertising Federation of Australia, andthe Communications Council of Australia. The event will be heldon Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Walsh Bay. The party opens with cocktails and canapés, with winningworks on display and presentation of awards to follow. MichaelO’Rourke, President of International Awards Group, will attend topresent trophies to winners.

Judging sessions for this year’s Global Awards were hosted by thefollowing prominent international agencies:  McCann Healthcare Sydney; Ogilvy Healthworld London; Pharmacom Barcelona; Topin & Associates Chicago; TrademarkDM Melbourne; and at The Global Awards headquarters in New York.

 

The Global Awards GrandJury is comprised ofa panel of 64 international industry experts, representing the topcreative minds in the field of healthcare advertising from around theglobe. The Global Awards Board, headed by board chairman Tom Domanico, is represented by award-winning health careprofessionals who guide the judging process and ensure that thecompetition addresses the needs of the healthcare communicationsindustry. 

 

The Global awards introduced several new categories in 2010including: Animal Healthcare, Allergies, and Computer GeneratedGraphics, which recognize a unique niche in healthcare communicationsand honor those industry professionals involved in creating these worksfor their clients.

 

Now in its 16th year, The Global Awards receives entries fromhealthcare corporations, hospitals, advertising agencies, productioncompanies, and design studios that produce communications for medical,pharmaceutical, and healthcare related products and services.  TheGlobal Awards Advisory Board and GrandJury are comprised of a panel ofprominent international industry experts, representing the top creativeminds in the field of healthcare advertising.
