The Furnace, Sydney launches new print campaign for Peugeot promoting genuine parts
The Furnace Sydney today launches a new print campaign for client, Peugeot.
Armed with the knowledge that when faced with repairs, many car owners are tempted to forego genuine parts in favour of cheaper, generic ones, The Furnace has created an amusing print campaign to highlight the importance of always opting for the real thing.
The 3 print ads use x-rays of entire cars to show how non-genuine parts can affect the integrity of the car. Entitled “Watering can”, “French horn” and “Hair dryer” the ads exploit the notion that only a Peugeot genuine part, truly belongs in a Peugeot.
“Vehicle maintenance is often seen as a necessary evil and is something people don’t invest much time thinking about. And, because it’s an additional expense, it’s not a process that is enjoyable. However, The Furnace has managed to create a beautiful and strong campaign out of a low interest area,” said Richard Grant, national marketing manager, Peugeot Automobiles Australia.

“People already know that they really should fit genuine parts in their cars, we’re just giving them a lighthearted reminder,” added Tom Spicer, Joint National Creative Director, The Furnace.

I really like it.
Not much good simple print around anymore these days. This is very good work.
Simple. Clean. Brilliant. Nice one Fenton.
VW did it better. They made it quirky.
Well done you lot.
Also similar to the Sony print campaign from the mid 90’s by Foster Nunn Loveder.
Very familiar and frankly has been done better before.
The idea doesn’t work because non-genuine parts look exactly like factory parts but may be inferior quality.
A classic old skool print campaign. Love it.
Wait till you see the new Peugeot Kid in a Darth Vader costume spot that’s coming. It’s hilarious.
very old school
I don’t know which is more depressing: either they’re studying the award annuals too closely – or not close enough.
Surely they don’t sell enough cars in Australia to make the ad work. Is it for France?
2 Creative Directors, 3 Copywriters, 2 Art Directors, 1 unoriginal idea.
this is an award winning campaign guys. as in it won loads of awards years ago.
It’s not old school. If it was, it’d have a well-written, clever headline.
If peugeot parts are so good, why does mine feel like every fucking bolt is loose when I drive it. Peugeot parts my arse. A fucking watering can would probably last longer than a Peugeot radiator.
What a crappy pathetic ad. As if the brand of spare parts make any difference. This is gutter advertising at its finest. I blame the Agency, not the poor bloody client, shame on you. Hillbilly’s.
