The Co-op joins Taxi Films director roster

Brisbane & Sydney-based Taxi Film Production has signed versatile directing team The Co-op to its roster of directors.
The Co-op is directing duo Michael Mier and Lav Bodnaruk, best known for their strong performance-based commercials and films as well as their flexible approach to getting the job done. The Co-op have just finished up working with George Patterson Y&R Sydney directing the TVC for the national launch of Colgate Palmolive’s Heavenly Hands.
The commercial required all of The Co-op’s experience to film real floating foam ‘flogos’ and integrate them seamlessly with additional foam shapes created in post-production by Mier & Bodnaruk’s boutique post production Chop Shop Post.
The Co-op have built up their skills as highly adaptable film-makers, effortlessly juggling multiple roles behind the camera and at the desktop. Their style is characterised by their strong talent direction and striking cinematography, combined in the mix is the duo’s renowned problem solving abilities.
Bodnaruk’s background as a cinematographer and Mier’s skills in sound design compliment one another and really add to shaping the duo’s directing style.
A rock solid understanding of all aspects of post-production is another string to their bow. So much so that the two have recently opened up their own boutique post-production house, ‘Chop Shop Post’, in Brisbane.
Says Taxi executive producer Andrew Wareham: “We’re really excited to have The Co-op on board, Mikey & Lav are very clever and versatile film-makes. Their flexible approach means that between them they can solve pretty much any filming problem you can throw at them and they add another dimension to the Taxi roster.”

Haven’t we all seen this before?
I think Clemenger BBDO – Brisbane was first in with Energex – Message Clouds.

I think that the energex campaign was fabulous. I see nothing wrong with extending the idea into a tv commercial for a product that is itself nothing more than foam? Surely as flogos have been around for years we could easily say that what energex did was “seen before”.
Examine the medium. Energex used flogos as a live advertsing campaign. Palmolive are merely incorporating flogos (with allot of adfitional vfx) into a full blown tvc.
Great idea and effective i think. Quite pretty even.
Otherwise…. When we see the next insurance commercial involving extreme weather we may aswell say “seen it before”.
Great idea guys and well executed.
Bravo
