The Brand Agency Perth’s Drug & Alcohol Office campaign launch makes Media Watch last night
It was bound to happen, wasn’t it? One of our CB WA bloggers even flagged its likelihood.
Plenty of eyebrows were raised within the Perth ad industry when Brand Agency account director Morgen Lewis was featured in a story in The West Australian about the Drug & Alcohol Office’s new campaign. Not normally a big deal except that Lewis was quoted as a 40 year-oldworking mother who found the commercials very impactful, not as arepresentative of the agency that produced them!
“Hmm”, thought everyone. “That’s a bit odd.”
We’rebetting one of the Brand’s competitors couldn’t get on the phone toMedia Watch fast enough when the article first appeared on May 17th.And so the escapade was featured on last night’s episode of the ABCprogram that delights in exposing attempts to ‘pull the wool’ over anunsuspecting public’s eyes.

the media watch slogan: everybody loves it until they’re on it
Too funny.
Maybe they should sit through the Cannes Case Studies.
They’d have a field day.
I’m glad Media Watch called this out.
It was deceptive and unethical for Morgen Lewis not to mention her relationship to the campaign and the agency.
But the journalism was even worse. Google “Morgen Lewis” and the second result is:

How hard was that?
The Brand Agency is Campaign brief’s agency of the year.
Perhaps she means Campaign Brief WA.
