Star junior team joins Leo’s in Melbourne
Leo Burnett Melbourne has topped up its creative numbers with the addition of junior pair, Elle Bullen and James Orr. The new hires come on the back of recent new business wins including Latina Fresh, Betty Crocker and most recently, Chrysler Australia just before Christmas.
Bullen was plucked from Burnett’s Toronto office where she had been for the last 3 years after winning the Young Guns Student Award in 2006. Orr was at JWT Melbourne where he had been since becoming the national AWARD School winner in 2007.
Says Leo Burnett Melbourne ECD Jason Williams: “Despite their relatively short time in the industry, both Elle and James have demonstrated skills and maturity beyond their years. We look forward to making them work their arses off at Burnetts.”

Work their arses off on some shitty bit of business which then leaves cos the marketing manager is mates with the head of some new start-up. Get pushed inexorably towards the account that none of the seniors want to touch, which like some giant special-needs baby, takes up all of their time and energy. CD then leaves for a shop down the road to be replaced by a new bloke whose awards all have someone else’s name on them. To cover his tracks he then removes everyone in the department above a certain level who could reveal him as a fraud. Giving the youngsters, now a little older and wiser, a free ticket upstairs. They finally get the chance to do some nice work. But by now the goalposts have shifted and what is winning nationally and internationally is coming out of that start-up on that shitty account . But they don’t mind cos now they are seniors which means they get a bigger office, a company parking space and they get to go to Cannes. Where they meet their old CD on a yacht. He offers to double their money if they’ll come and work at the shop down the road. Trouble is, it’s on the giant special needs baby account which is about to shift agencies. They take the bait, certain they’ll be able to palm the account off on some junior team. After all, they’re seniors, right? At which point the CD leaves for a shop down the road to be replaced by a new bloke whose awards all have some else’s name on them.
