Six Aussie young lions chosen for Cannes trip
The Australian reports that six young advertising and media people (pictured by CB above) have been chosen as the winners of News Limited’s Young Lions competition. The winners, which were announced tonight at a News Limited function in Sydney, score a trip to the Cannes International Advertising Festival next month.

Special guest tonight was Terry Savage (pictured centre of bottom right pic), the chairman of the Cannes International Advertising Festival.
Damian Royce, a creative director at Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne, who flew up with Nick Kelly (Copywriter) and Calvin Teoh (Interactive Designer), winners of the Young Lions Cyber category, told CB: “We’re all really excited and proud that Nick and Calvin will get to represent Australia in the Young Lions Cyber category. The experience they’ll have competing against other hungry young creatives from around the world will be invaluable. We wish them all the best.”
Campaign Brief will of course be there reporting – for the 21st time – at this stage the only Australian ad trade press going to Cannes this year.

Jim – Let the force be with You – Congratulations mate
Jim – unstoppable!
I thought the Cyber entries had to be “working” entries. They’re more like polished scamps.
Jeah! Jimbo
Great stuff OJ.
Very nice bloke who’s just worked very hard. Enjoy and best of luck.

Jim Curtis! Hats off mate. First Award school. Then Creative RAW. Now Young Lions.

Nick and Calvin.
Well done on a really innovative way of using banners for this kind of project – and in 24 hours no less.
By far the best work.
ONYA JIMMY!
Well done Nicholas & Cal
Enjoy Cannes
12:38 – are you talking print or cyber?
methinks that long copy work for the print was pretty stiff in not winning
1:50 – The print.
Hard to pick, finalists had more emotion in the work, for mine.
Not judged on that, fair enough, but.
Jimmy, you’re a gun!!
8:01 – The winning entry doesn’t look like a polished scamp… so try not to steal people’s thunder.
Michael (9:35) Here’s a link mate. http://www.newsspace.com.au/repository/entry/launch_idea.html
Congrats to Nick and Calv.. Two incredibly talented and hard working guys. You both definitely deserve the win. Fantastic concept!
Nick and Calv- legends.
Was only a matter of time.
Good work boys.
Was this round judged by the same judges as the first? Doesn’t seem so. Wouldn’t think an obvious execution like writing on a face and a long copy ad would make it to finalist. I saw the work and yes it was a low standard, but I did think there were a few that were far better than these and even the winners.
meh. the DDB stuff – have seen it before. Out of all I liked the M&C stuff the best.
Odd Job you little star you. Nice one fella…look forward to seeing the pics of you passed out naked on a french rooftop…post 2 Kronenbourgs …heh…have a wicked un mate
