Simon Vicar’s Cannes Diary – Day Four from the Cannes Radio Lions jury room
Simon Vicars, senior creative at DDB, is New Zealand’s representative on the Radio jury. He has just finished day four of judging and writes exclusively for Campaign Brief. Other Aussie and Kiwi jurors will be contributing exclusively to the CB Blog over the next week, so make sure you check in daily, hourly, every minute…
Sometimes I fantasize about being able to freeze time. First I’d go to a car dealership and take a flash car. I’d go to a bank and steal heaps of money. Maybe I’d pull over and look up some girl’s skirt, depending on how much time I had. Then, after all that, I’d head on over to our Jury room and put my name on a whole bunch of amazing ads.
The Golds were inspiring ideas. So original and brilliantly executed. With 15 jurors scrutinizing one piece of work at a time there is very little chance for something below par to sneak through. There were no agendas and very little patriotic campaigning. The great work got what it deserved. Bastards.
