Simon Robson’s ‘Coalition of the Willing’ finalist and a top 5 best animation film at Vimeo Awards
Engine’s multi-award winning director and creative director Simon Robson – left (Knife Party), has been confirmed to speak at Sydney’s upcoming SPAA Fringe event on Collaborative Environmental Filmmaking and Crowd Sourcing specifically relating to his unique animated film Coalition of the Willing which he conceived, directed and produced under his Knife Party moniker. Coalition of the Willing also made headlines this week when it was announced as one of the finalists and top five best animation films, out of over 6500 entries, at the upcoming inaugural Vimeo Awards in New York.
Online video sharing site Vimeo, often referred to as the ‘creatives’ YouTube’ and the Vimeo Festival and Awards are a celebration of the best original and creative video that has premiered online. The goal of the Vimeo awards is to reward the individual creators behind online video and acknowledge the Internet as a quality medium of expression and distribution.
Says Robson: “It’s a great honour that Coalition of the Willing is oneof the finalists at the Vimeo Festival and Awards. The competition isof an incredibly high standard and honestly, it’s humbling that we havemade the top five. During SPAA Fringe I will be talking about howCoalition of the Willing was made, our unique crowd sourcing angle,staggered release schedule and how social networking has been such asignificant part of the movie’s success.”
Coalition of theWilling involved over twenty of the best animation studios from allover the world preaching a pro-active environmental message using crowdcreativity. Coalition of the Willing also makes up part of 2010’sonedotzero festival, Soho Short Film Festival and Ottawa Film Festivalprograms.
