Sam Cable: Serviceplan, Hamburg Diary #4
Sam Cable is a copywriting student at Miami Ad School Sydney, currently interning at Hamburg creative ad agency Serviceplan as part of her portfolio course.
The halfway mark has now dawned upon us, so unexpectedly soon. Every morning, glimpses of sunlight peak through the Serviceplan window as we drink our coffee. Now is the time to really kick it up a notch if my art director, Rafael Martins, and I really want to be noticed. We both have zoned into the careful balancing act known as ‘Multitasking’: the state of mind where nothing and everything can be achieved simultaneously. But as each small detail is ticked off the list, we both are one step closer to completing a campaign. This has been the inspiration for Rafael’s weekly Internship Fact for the Serviceplan Diaries.
One of my favourite things about being part of Miami Ad School is the opportunity to develop my craft as a young copywriter. The other day, someone emailed me (after reading these articles on Campaign Brief), asking about the course and how I have found my journey so far. I was humbled by the email, and was eager to provide a useful reply. When I started the course, I was constantly relying on my strong poetic background when creating good copy. But Miami Ad School has taught me the art of simplicity, and the discipline to do so; allowing each word to have its own flair and rhythm. I cannot wait to hold a junior position because then I can bring the best of both writing styles to the role.
As an intern, I have already learnt so much at Serviceplan. One of the projects I helped work on recently won a pitch. Rafael and I are waiting to see how the next few weeks unroll and what we can do to help.
Up for the challenge?
Multitasking is always,
A prerequisite.
