Sam Cable: Hamburg school diary #8
Sam Cable is a copywriting student at Miami Ad School Sydney, currently studying in Hamburg before graduating in December.
Hello Future Awards! This weekend I had the pleasure to attend the 2015 award show and convention located in Frankfurt, Germany. The day was a platform for the exchange of ideas between students and industry leaders to better the future of this world. The awards attracted the best and brightest projects in Europe, across education, entertainment, sustainability, economics and technology. 220 students from 64 universities presented their ideas; and I was fortunate enough to attend alongside finalists from Miami Ad School Europe. I will say listening to the presentations in German was a bit daunting! But it did provide me with a crash course in effective body language when pitching an idea.
The day was incredible seeing so many students share their passions for the future. Some of the conversations I had that weekend will stay with me for a long time. I also made a sneaky cameo appearance in the convention highlights at 00:09.
We also managed to squeeze in a quick sightseeing trip to the centre of Frankfurt before the awards. The city is home to one of the world’s largest stock exchanges, surrounded by glass skyscrapers and modern, open-plan lofts overlooking the river. Add a handful of cosy German cottages and some medieval, half-timbered buildings, and you have Frankfurt.
The graduation countdown is officially on! I graduate in two weeks – which is exciting and scary at the same time. I promise I will not squeeze in any more little weekend holiday trips. Now I have 14 days to get my portfolio together. Wish me luck.
