R/GA named Adweek Digital Agency of the Year

Picture 655.pngAdweek has named R/GA as their 2009 Digital Agency of the Year, the fifth time the agency has won the honour. It’s also a huge compliment to Aussie expat Nick Law (left), the agency’s chief creative officer. As CCO, Law is responsible for the overall creative vision of the agency.

Law joined R/GA in 2001 and has played a significant role in shapingR/GA’s creative vision. In that time, his work has won numerousinternational awards and has been widely published in the UnitedStates, the United Kingdom, and Asia-Pacific. Within a year of joiningthe company, he was promoted to vice president of visual design andshortly thereafter named executive creative director on the Nikeaccount.

Adweek named JWT its 2009 Global Agency of the Year,marking the first time this advertising industry honor has been awardedto the agency or a WPP company.  “This win is a testament to what we atJWT already knew–JWT is stronger, better, more creative and morecompetitive than ever,” said JWT Chairman and CEO Bob Jeffrey. 

 

Atthe Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in June, JWT won 26Lions across 10 countries, including a Grand Prix for JWT Japan’s KitKat “Mail” campaign (the Tokyo agency’s first-ever Lion of any kind).2009 also saw JWT build its creative and executive bench strength withthe hiring of David Eastman, Worldwide Digital Director; FernandoVega-Olmos, Creative Chairman for Continental Europe and Latin America;and Guy Hayward, CEO of JWT London.

Meanwhile, Creativity has named Mother New York as its Agency of the Year. Droga5 New York, which is majority Australian owned, was one of the five nominations for the title, along with Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Big Spaceship.
