@radical.media welcomes Norwegian director Eivind ‘Salmon’ Holmboe to the roster

rad1.jpgDirector Eivind Holmboe, aka ‘Salmon’, has joined the @radical.media roster.

Although Salmon has become one of Spain’s leading directors, he is in fact not Spanish at all. He grew up as far from the sun and sangria of Spain as you can get, in the fish-rich climates of Norway, hence his directing alias.

It is these contrasting cultures as well as his successful career in the US as a creative that gives his work such a unique sensitivity.

rad2.jpgSays Salmon: “My work ethic comes from being in the US and its competitiveness, while I think I get my attention to detail and self irony from my Norwegian side.”

After building a reel with some of Europe’s biggest clients, including Audi, Skoda, Seat and VW, Salmon made the move into the US market where rad3.jpghe continued on his rise with work for Vodafone, ONO, Corona and Honda.

Salmon’s distinctive Scandinavian approach to humour is complemented by his cinematic style, but when asked what defines him as a director he is very clear.

Says Salmon: “The directors I admire most are those who seem to be able to do anything and their work looks different every time. People say my work is immediately recognisable but I don’t see that. I hate it when someone says something is not my style … I can do anything.”

Says Holly Alexander, executive producer: “We are continuing to build our roster with some really stand out talent. It has always been our plan to find the most exciting directors, established or emerging, wherever they might be in the world so that we have a real depth to our roster. Salmon is another step in that direction for us and we are really looking forward to bringing him down here. We are already getting a lot of interest in him, so we couldn’t be happier.”
