Bestads Top 6 of the Week reviewed by Harry Woods, partner/CD, WWD&S, New York
So I sat down to look at Best Ads and to my delight, the first thing I saw was a sexy cop girl running through the streets. Hot as balls. I think there might have been a guy in it to. This Axe spot ended up being my runner up.
As I moved through the spots, I made this note: the “dog in a nighty” spot for Jeep is good but just wrong.
Grrrr. Weiden and Kennedy and ESPN. How can this still be this good? Winner.
After 5 ads I was afraid I was going to have to not like any of the print. Then the Melchers Travel ad by BBDO Taiwan popped up and I was saved. What an emotionally effective way to capture how much those of us with families miss them when we have to work. Winner. No runner up.
The Tampa Bay Lightning thing and the Daffy’s thing tied for first. Daffy’s might have won except for the long-assed case video that belabored a good idea. Anyway, making tons of disturbing the peace with that big metal sign for your home team would be awesome fun in person. I like the king’s head ad and would probably watch that show if it made its way to BBC America. If I could find that channel.
The Adidas ‘Face of the marathon’ site was very cool and contained so much truth of the experience if you’ve ever run one badly. Another big plus is it only took about as much time as I have to waste staring at a website, so that’s my favorite. The Royal Dutch guide dog thing was equally fun to play with. On the other hand, the Kia Extras site was funny so toss a coin for 2nd place. Both great.
