Pop-up Exhibition from ‘A Cautionary Tail’ to be held at Heckler Studios,Thursday 7th June
An exhibition of stills and miniature sets from a new Australian animation starring Cate Blanchett, David Wenham and Barry Otto will open at the former Paramount Pictures Building on Thursday 7th June.
Directed by Simon Rippingale and produced by Pauline Piper, the film is a dark, funny fable by writer Erica Harrison about a girl born with a tail who stands up to bullies to embrace her difference.
Following the Oscar success of Australian animated shorts like The Lost Thing and Harvie
Krumpet, A Cautionary Tail will make its debut at international festivals this year. Animated by a world-class team from Happy Feet Two and featuring an original score by Michael Yezerski, composer for The Lost Thing, the film uses a striking combination of 3D animated characters and beautiful hand-made miniature sets.
Curated by Joseph Allen Shea, the exhibition features stills, miniature sets and scenes from the film, and aims to raise awareness of Headspace, Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, an organisation that supports young people develop resilience against bullying.
The film is a collaboration with the Sydney post production company, Heckler. Founded in
2010, Heckler has been recognised as an exciting new player in the industry, winning this year’s Creative Hotshop Award for Post Production.
