Perth agency SHED’s first tv commercial has native animals speaking out for themselves
Here’s the first tvc to come out of the SHEDcsc and it’s for a very worthy cause. Every year Native Animal Rescue cares for almost 3000 native animals and birds. Their goal is to help them recover, then release them back into their natural habitat. To do this, they rely almost entirely on public support in the form of donations and volunteers.
SHEDcsc is the new agency formed by former Marketforce CD Andrew Tinning and former AdImpact CD Drew Ridley.
Says Tinning: “When Drew and I were approached by ZZ’s Maggie Speak to help develop a campaign for Native Animal Rescue, we both jumped at the chance. It’s a great cause and even though chickens are not technically native animals, it’s one we are both proud to be involved in. They are adorable creatures in need of your support, so our solution was to let them speak for themselves. To make it happen required the time and efforts of a very dedicated team of highly skilled collaborators.”
“Dave Wood did a fantastic job directing the rather unorthodox cast. Mick McDermott shot some beautiful pictures on his amazing new Alexa digital camera. Bruce from Firstlight Digital weaved his editing and post production magic as did Justin Braine in the sound suite at Brainestorm.”
“Getting a blue tongue to wrap his lips around the script was no mean feat, but it was made possible by my great friend and colleague Stephen Douglas and his team at Post Modern Sydney. Special thanks must go to Flame Artist Kristian Whitlock who did a fantastic job within a very tight time frame.”
“Drew and I would both like to thank Maggie and Lizzie Aravidis from NAR for the opportunity.”

Shed. Empty shed.
One word. AARDMAN
Animal Choddy!
Andrew Tinning – a nice bloke who mentored me way back when. Good luck with your new venture Andrew, no doubt there’s lots of great clients in WA ready to be snapped up.
Wow… Awful… Just… Wow. Awful.
Yes, it’s a bit Aardman, but charming and very watchable.
This is a great ad. If you’re bold enough to bag it then be brave enough to put your name to it.
Its not a great ad, it ‘s not bad either. The real issue is that it’s not that original.
Try haardman.
This is original man. Where is that coming from? Jealousy?
6.18 Have you never seen the iconic, multi award winning campaign that Aardman did for British Gas called ‘Creature comforts’? There have been numerous copies of that over the years and this is just another one of those. so no ‘man’ it’s not original.
Animals talking. We are animals and we talk in ads. Does that mean every ad with humans talking is not original. Get real man and stop spreading bad vibes.
Western Australia is the world centre for talking animals in ads.
7.45. Yes I have seen those rip off ads for British Gas. Where did they get he original idea for those ads? Maybe from the TV series. So why are those ads ‘original’ and this ads using real animals isn’t?
Shame on you Mr. Aaardman for ripping off this 1928 classic by putting talking animals in your film.

10.11. Did you know Mickey left Minnie because she was crazy? The truth is she was fucking Goofy.
The point is surely that Aardmans animals are animations, these are real with a human mouth. Technically they remind me a bit of Flintham and Mcleods idents for Doritos that got gold at D&AD a few years back.

Not in the same league, but not too shabby either.
Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, so i guess Aardman, Budweisser, Optus, British Gas, Bank West, Doritos and the countless others, should feel flattered. OK so it’s not that original, but it is alot better than most of the rubbish on our screens.
OK, 9.59..it’s not real original. Happy? No, good.
Don’t be silly! Those youtube clips are lame. Neither Bruce Lee nor John Wayne are moving. And it’s only one shot per ad. Too easy.
Think your smart 2,42? Lick my bum hairs. There.
Why are the AUSTRALIAN animals speaking with English accents?
