Patts tees up for election

George Patterson Y&R, Melbourne has been quick off the mark to address the real ‘big question’ facing voters at the up-coming election.
Ben Coulson, executive creative director at GPY&R, believes that more than the policies, or even the personalities, it will come down to whether or not Australians are ready for a female PM: “Now that the election has officially been called, we thought it would be fun to light the candle on that issue with our JULIA & TONY 10 range of artwork & apparel,” says Coulson.
The designs, artwork and the debate can be seen at GPY&R’s JULIA & TONY 10 Facebook pages: Tony10 and Julia10.

Now this is just sad and confusing. Are you trying to be retro or me too-ish?
Julia gave me an election on Saturday
The ‘Kevin 07’ line worked. Julia/Tony 10 does not. Spend more than 30 secs on the line and these could be cute.
4:41, I like it.
Tony 10 totally rymes!
I like that they do more than just ads at GPY&R in Melb.
Well done boys, keep having fun.
TONY 10 buggies….Brilliant!
4:56 They’d want to do more than ads. They’ve hardly got any clients.
ooooooo…5.02 that’s a bit nasty……not having a good day?
Those budgies are definitely a sizeable debate.
Are we ready for a prime minister that thinks it’s ok to wear dickstickers in public?
Best not DIY Ben!
4.56. You seem to be a wee bit grumpy. Why?
That’s funny!
Neet little site, funny.
Really sad that the best idea an ad agency can come up with at election time is to play the gender card.
The election will come down to whether Australians are ready for a female PM? If that’s true, it’s pathetic, and not at all flattering to the intelligence of the Australian people.
Kevin 07 worked, in that well, it rhymed and was different from the usual political slogan. This pays homage to that campaign, and kinda falls short. Highlighting that Julia is female and Tony is a bloke is hardly insightful.
If only Patts used their powers for good instead of evil. (They might even win a few clients to boot).
Once again, everyone taking it all to seriously. Patts are clearly having a bit of fun with a visual pun. There’s plenty of ‘cracker’ ads launching the serious stuff. My only gripe is they’ve stolen the Clemenger house style – the parody.
Yes, 11:15, everyone’s taking the trivial issues of immigration, work choices, climate change, medical care, and the like ‘all too seriously’.
It’s as if this election actually meant something to the lives of 20 million people, instead of just another opportunity for a gender-driven visual pun by an ad creative.
I like that Patts is the only agency pro active enough to get into the election debate without a client telling them to do so.
I read Coulson’s article on the front page of the Age newspaper last weekend. It was informed and very good. How many of you are having your opinions featured on the front page of the paper? None, best you can all do is bitch away on this blog.
Seriously, leave the hacking aside and get out there and be a bit more. You’d probably be a little more successful, like Coulson and his agency.
@11:40. Whoops I think you missed the point. I think everyone is taking Patts t-shirts a little seriously. No one is trying to suggest there aren’t serious issues and points of debate during the election campaign. Unfortunately for a lot of people it becomes a popularity contest, and this time a gender contest. Tell me there aren’t going to be droves of women turning up to vote in Julia on polling day. We in advertising know the importance of a USP. Happy Tuesday.
@ 8:58AM – Are you Coulson? They should concentrate their proactivity on their clients.
It’s a cheeky gag. Get over it you nay sayers.
Undies, undies, undies, togs.
This industry used to be fun. Gen y has just made it sooooo shit. You guys make me want to shoot myself in the face.
this isn’t a gender contest. people aren’t that basic.
we have females working in offices now. a female gg. my god, even a female footy commentator. they’re looking at the character more than the gender.
and gillard is a bit mannish anyway.
Two stories up the front of the Sunday Herald Sun on the weekend were all about whether Australians were ready for a female PM and the gender issue.
You’re kidding yourself to assume people are intelligent enough to vote on policy. It’s all about personality.
Quick call the Australian, and all the networks, the people of Australia are desperate for Ben’s political insight!!!!!!!
” Ben Coulson, executive creative director at GPY&R, believes that more than the policies, or even the personalities, it will come down to whether or not Australians are ready for a female PM”
correct. personality wins.
come election day, people won’t be thinking ‘hmmm, is a woman or a man best to lead the country?’, they’ll be thinking ‘who is the least biggest twat?’.
Oh dear. Obama gets Shepard Fairey. Gillard and Abbott get this.
Please, someone do something better. Anyone. Anyone?
Hey Sandy, Coulson’s political opinion was on the front page of the Saturday Age Newspaper, yours is here on s sad industry blog!
Julia Goolia rhymes too.
