Nissan Patrol launches 4×4 track based on Beethoven’s Ninth via Whybin\TBWA Melbourne
To launch the first all-new Nissan Patrol in 15 years, Whybin\TBWA Group Melbourne and Nissan Australia set out to create a 4×4 track to match the powerful and refined nature of the all-new Nissan Patrol.
In a world first, the track was built from a classical musical composition’s sound wave. This sound wave belonged to none other than Beethoven’s Ninth.
The track, created by internationally renowned track builder, Renato Loberto, was conquered by Australia’s Premier 4×4 Expert, Pat Callinan. Whybin\TBWA’s ‘Patrol vs. Beethoven’ campaign sets out to not only show off the refined nature of the all-new Patrol, but also to prove to skeptics that even though it is a luxurious departure from its well known predecessors, it still remains one of the most powerful, capable and technologically advanced off-roaders on the planet.
The campaign went live Saturday January 12 with targeted banner advertising including a YouTube masthead.

Nice idea, but my grandmother’s Honda Civic could drive over that!
That is gold.
Great idea. Video is two and a half minutes too long.
That’s a winner. Jealous. Well done.
Classic Nappa that is.
My mum’s 1965 Austin 30 could get over that bump.
Nice one!
Cool idea, pay that.
Clever
Fine for the mums who drive to their kids to school. Really lame if you are from the country where those kinds of driving conditions are like driving to your front gate. 2 out of 10
hilarious…possibly the smallest, least testing track in the world.
a 59 degree downhill run is fairly impressive for a four bee.
Good idea.
2.12 you’re kidding aren’t you!!??
You think anyone who live an hour or further from a metro area has dirt roads and tin roofs. The idea is really good but clearly misses communicating to people like 2.12 who expect anything to do with the country to involve a piece of straw in the mouth, check shirts and inbreeding. Get off the blog and go and visit some Australian countryside and the people who live there. Ps I come from a farming family so have a pretty good idea!!
Impressively comprehensive credits list. Missed the receptionist though. FAIL.
Ed, you say ‘clever’.
In advertising clever doesn’t mean good. Good means good- clever gets in the way.
Love it
