The deadline for entering the 2010 News Limited Young Lions competition is fast approaching, with the search on for the best young advertising and media talent to compete. Open to entry in each state, the competition challenges young professionals who are at the start of their careers in the media, advertising and marketing communications industry.

Its aim is to identify the hottest upcoming talent from Australia to goon and compete against other national representatives in the worldwideYoung Lions Competition held in Cannes at The International AdvertisingFestival in June.

The News Limited 2010 competition has undergone some exciting changes to better prepare the ultimate winners for the Cannes experience. This year the competition will follow a first and second round format across the media, print and cyber categories.

• The first round will challenge entrants to develop a response to a brief by the entry deadline, these will be judged by panels of industry specialists to determine finalists. Importantly entrants into the cyber category are only required to storyboard their idea in the first round rather than creating a live execution online.

• Selected finalists for all three categories will go on to compete in the second round where a 24-hour brief will be issued, simulating the Cannes Young Lions format.

• Conducted by Metta Group, all media finalists will receive a one day ‘High Impact Presenting’ program, focused to develop each presenter’s authentic style to maximise impact for the remainder of the competition and their career.

• A team of six winners (two from each of the Media, Print and Cyber categories) selected from the 24 hour challenge will represent Australia in Cannes.

2010 is News Limited’s third year of association with the Cannes Advertising Festival as the official Australian representative and their support of the Young Lions competition demonstrates their commitment to fuelling creativity within the media and creative communities.

Says News Limited’s Group Director of Marketing: Advertising and Integration Garth Agius: “After winning Gold with the media team in Cannes last year, we’re eager to start the hunt for talent in 2010”.
