Nancy Hartley’s 2011 Cannes Diary – Day Three from the Cannes Cyber jury room
Nancy Hartley, joint executive creative director of SapientNitro Australia, is Australia’s representative on the Cyber jury. She has just finished day three of judging and writes exclusively for Campaign Brief. Other Aussie and Kiwi jurors will be contributing exclusively to the CB Blog over the next week, so make sure you check in daily, hourly, every minute…
There was a lot of laughing in the Cyber Jury room on Day 3 as each group of 5 judges got towards the end of its allotted 500 entries.
There was Germany’s Jens Schmidt doing push-ups and sprinting around the room to test if a heartbeat app really worked. And with half of the room watching virals, sporadic fits of laughter from a judge would cause everyone to gather around that monitor. Seems humour always draws a crowd, in the physical world and online.
With previous judging days ending around 8pm it was great to finish early and get out amongst the action – and there’s plenty of it now that the rest of the world has landed for the Festival.
I caught up with my SapientNitro colleagues who had just arrived and have one of the opening sessions of the festival, “Culture Clubbing” with the Brand. I’d love to be attending, but will working on the shortlist for Cyber. Excited to get into it.
