Music’s biggest and best artists come together in ‘For the Love of Music’ spot for Channel [V]
Channel [V] The iconic Australian music channel wanted to create something different. Something big. A homage to the artists that have made an impact on music. A first of its kind, the ‘For the Love of Music’ spot features music’s biggest and best artists; from Nirvana to Lady Gaga, with hundreds of artists featuring in the final 1 minute, 45 second commercial.
Conceptualized in-house, and inspired by video-art from a NYC hotel elevator, the [V] creative team wanted to build a journey through a musical wonderland using a video montage. Creative agency Where There’s Smoke was tasked with making the impossible, possible.
They aimed to mix the paints of Hieronymus Bosch and Warhol; to feed the hues to the Gods of music and watch them sing in image; to build the beast and let it bleed and so it began.
Using Channel [V]’s best resource – music videos, the XYZnetworks Music Channel’s creative team and WTS tirelessly searched through thousands of clips from hundreds of artists – destined to locate the perfect scenes, characters, and icons to build these mystical worlds.

Inspired or ripped off?
Why didn’t they just go direct to Marco Brambilla?

It wasn’t conceptualized in house – it was conceptualized by Marco Brambilla and ripped off by V.
So stupid to say ‘never been done before’ when it so clearly has.
Sad.
I feel sorry for all involved, included the sucker that wrote the flowery (and untrue) release about it.
Stick to playing music videos.
ripp off, its the same as Kanye’s clip for Power http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L53gjP-TtGE
What would have been really cool, is if I got Rick-rolled 15 seconds in.
There’s a few great ads in a similar vein, including this one

When seen with all the other elements, idents and logos etc… it’s just incredibly well put together. I’m glad they were inspired to create another visually extravagant feast for my eyes. Such high horses ya’ll have.
Wow, the haters. Seriously? This is EPIC!!!
Bang up job and hats off.
google Marco Brambilla – Civilization and its basically the same thing as this. Pretty sure Marco’s interpretation came before this as to Civilization was the inspiration for Kanye’s Video
