Melbourne agency Fenton Stephens creates TVC for Tom Waterhouse online sports betting brand

Melbourne independent creative agency Fenton Stephens has created the latest TV campaign for online sports betting brand tomwaterhouse.com.
The TVC follows the integrated campaign which launched the brand just over a year ago.
Tom Waterhouse fronts the ad shot in black and white with multiple film speeds.
The director is David Denneen of Film Graphics and Academy Award winner Russell Boyd as DOP.
Says Alex Fenton, creative director of Fenton Stephens: “Watching David and Russell at work was
an inspiration, they showed an almost instinctive working relationship over the four days of shooting, with very long hours and some very technical challenges to deal with. They handled it all with consummate professionalism.”
This campaign features multiple
executions, the first of which ties in with
tomwaterhouse.com’s partnership with the Wallabies.
Also included in the series is a variation launching the company’s new mobile betting site, in which Stephens played a lead role in the development strategy.

Nothing against the agency or the campaign specifically, but we will all one day look back at this stuff as the equivalent of cigarette advertising. The way these brands try to enmesh themselves into the news and as genuine content is a disgrace. It’s a terrible industry that aims to make what it does socially acceptable because deep in their hearts they all know it’s wrong and often profits from those who can least afford it.
