M&C Saatchi wins Dick Smith creative
M&C Saatchi, Sydney has been appointed by Dick Smith to provide fully integrated marketing communications following a competitive pitch involving five agencies.
M&C Saatchi managing director David Whittle (left) was “delighted” with the prospect of working with the renowned Australian retailer: “Dick Smith is an iconic Australian brand, synonymous with innovation and quality and the agency is excited to have the opportunity to propel the brand forward,” Mr Whittle said.
The appointment adds to M&C Saatchi’s roster of blue chip clients that includes: David Jones, Optus, Qantas, Westfield and Woolworths.
Dick Smith Head of Marketing & Buying Annette Karantoni said a number of attributes made M&C Saatchi the standout candidate: “M&C Saatchi obviously have strong credentials in branded retail work. But what really set them apart was a strong creative idea inspired by a differentiating strategy,” Ms Karantoni said.
“The agency has a demonstrated ability to deliver large and complex advertising programs for clients like us. This, coupled with the strength and stability of their team made them an ideal fit for Dick Smith.”

And welcome to the world of mediocrity….
Delivered at half the price
I could have sworn the pitch had nothing to do with creative. Their strong creative idea must to have been to guarantee all the work for next to nothing, luckily they have Woolworths as well.
To imply, even vaguely, that M&C did a deal – which they didn’t, for the pitch would take a braver ‘anonymous’ than me.
After all, others have seen some very nasty legal letters for doing just that.
Yay for more retail…
