Henry Tajer, executive chairman of Mediabrands Australia, said Corones (left) would join the USA MagnaGlobal team during negotiations for the upfront season to gain a deeper understanding of trends, insights and commercial implications of US media deals that may have a later bearing on the Australia media market.

The USA upfront season consists of meetings and presentations by the major television networks to present their forthcoming programme schedules to clients and media buyers. Each May the networks announce their programming schedules for September onwards, so clients and media agencies can make their programme investment decisions.

“The upfront season is a valuable window to future television and programming in Australia,” said Tajer. “As MagnaGlobal is Mediabrands’ intelligence and investment specialist, it makes sense that Victor joins our US team as their networks unveil their plans and new products.”

Corones will attend upfront events in New York. “The Australian TV networks have specific alliances in the US that act as sources of programming for the Australia market,” said Corones. “Attending the upfronts will give us a wide view of programming that may come to Australia and that view adds to the scope of our intelligence in discussions with clients.”
