Richie Ralphsmith_1_RGB.jpgSays Richard Ralphsmith, president of the MADC (left): “Just toget it out of the way, here’s the obligatory list of clichés from thepresident in announcing the MADC Awards finalists: This year we had abumper crop of entries. This made the judging incredibly difficult. Many harsh decisions had to be made. The standard was extremely high, more like a big international show than a local one.

“Now I’d like to put my hand on my heart and say that each statementabove is absolutely true. So congratulations to all of the creativepeople who contributed to 2010 being such a stellar year for the MADCAwards. Thank you also to the enablers – the producers, the suits andthe clients – who believe strongly enough in the power of ideas to makethem happy.

“I just realized that I accidentally typed ‘happy’ instead of ‘happen’.But now that I see it, I’m going to leave it that way. Ideas are likepeople. When they get to freely and fully express themselves, you cansee the joy in them. There’s a lot of joy in the 268 finalists below.

“Well done to all finalists. Thanks to the judges. Finally, make sureyou come along on August 27 to what will surely be the mostsplendiferous MADC Awards since 48-point Franklin Gothic was in vogue.”

The Awards night will be held on Friday, 27th August at Peninsula, Shed14, Central Pier Docklands. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, 9thAugust.
