MADC announces 2011 judges; Ben Welsh, ECD, M&C Saatchi Sydney named chairman of judges
CB Exclusive: The MADC Committee has named the judging panels for the 2011 Awards and announces the return of the Finalists’ Lunch.
Ben Welsh, ECD of M&C Saatchi in Sydney, is the chairman of judges, overseeing nine different panels in the new judging format.
“We’re really excited to have Ben on board as Chairman of Judges. And if you look through each of the juries, you’ll see some of the biggest names in Australian advertising and design. Having people of this calibre judging is a real coup for MADC,” said Dave Klein, President of the MADC.
The Finalists’ Lunch will be held on Wednesday 14th September. Further details will be released via the MADC website in the coming week.
Judging will take place from 9-11th September and the Awards night is on Friday, 14th October at the Plaza Ballroom on Collins Street.

Where the bitches at?
What a fantastic waist of time! Another wonderfully irrelevant advertising award.
It will be won, as usual by the Judges and their agencies. Clems will win the main prizes as usual. They will all feel kind of important for a second, then slightly embarrassed for feeling that way.
If only all that money could be used for something meaningful.
MADC shouldn’t waist time getting judges, they don’t need them. Just give Clems their prizes and get on with life. No one cares!
Melbourne judging it’s self.
52 blokes and 4 females… hmmmm
Navel gazing.
It’s ‘waste’, not ‘waist’.
And ‘itself’, not ‘it’s self’.
Seriously, when did advertising become populated by so many illiterates?
I guess intelligence is less important than collecting shiny metal things.
Surely 12.01 and 12.02 are one and the same.
I refuse to believe there’s more than one person in advertising stupid enough to confuse waste with waist.
12:33,
I don’t know which town you work in, but I’ve personally found this industry packed full of talented, smart, creative women – most of them work in a different department but they have just as much input if not more than the blokes do.
As far as only having 4 women who are awarded enough to be selected, I agree, it is a shame. I also question whether they’re there as ‘tokens’ – there are two who haven’t won anything or done anything great for years. As I’m sure you have.
Unbelievable. You’re saying that the industry is ‘packed full’ of talented women, but none of them are creatives?
And that the women on this jury are there as ‘tokens’, because there are not 4 female creatives in Australia who are “awarded enough” to be on there.
What kind of ignorant dinosaur are you exactly?
MADC Awards… what’s that saying about whipping a deceased horse?
They should just charge $10 entry, have it in the pub, and make a single award for Clems called “The predetermined award”, and leave it at that.
I thought Patts pulled out? Shouldn’t they pull them off the juries as well?
A waist of time…isn’t that another name for The Biggest Loser?
Yay Franny is Chairman!
