Lancelot arrives at Song Zu
22 year-old Sydney producer Lance Gurisik aka ‘Lancelot’ has joined the Sydney studios of Song Zu.
Formerly writing and producing black-hole sized electro as AEONS, Lancelot’s new tunes are aimed squarely at today’s club underground.
For the past four years Lance has composed orchestral music while studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, but after hours Lance snuck down into the faculty recording studios, laying down a clutch of well-regarded official remixes for artists including Matt Corby, New Navy (Future Classic), Toucan, Fabian, Penguin Prison, Sparkadia (Ivy League), Faker (EMI), Tim and Jean (Universal) and Fallulah (Sony DE) plus three original tunes for the We Can Dance EP.
With a freshly framed graduation certificate and overgrown haircut to boot, Lancelot is plunging headlong into the deep-end of Australia’s club scene and with a fetish for analogue gear, he deftly melds classical theory and structures with his own take on modern house styles.
Lancelot’s ‘We Can Dance EP’ is set for release worldwide on LA-based label Binary (Fabian, Keenhouse, Nightwaves), starting with a Beatport digital exclusive on February 20th. His instrumental dance track ‘Spoken Word’ has topped almost 20 000 streams on Soundcloud in under two weeks and he was in the Top 10 most blogged artists on Hype Machine for over a week (just behind Skrillex).
Says Song Zu partner Ramesh Sathiah: “It’s great to have Lance on board, the combination of serious electronic chops mixed with his skill in acoustic art music is a potent combo.”
