Only four Australian entries have made it through to the shortlist stage of the Design Lions, with JWT Melbourne scoring for International Fund for Animal Welfare ‘Stop the Slaughter’ and Melbourne Writers Festival ‘Stories from the street’, Leo Burnett Sydney through with their own ‘Apple Box’ work and Landor Associates Sydney getting on the shortlist with Yummy Tummy Koalas.

So here’s my little tweet, and it’s anonymous for good reason …
Let’s watch as Leo Burnett under the watch of Todd and Andy clean up in a bunch of categories that frankly are all about the entry. Seriously, congratulations boys, last year it was Media and this year so far it’s PR and Promo. Awesome.
Fact is that under CB rankings, a Gold, or Silver, or Grand Prix in each of these dodgy categories, is unfortunately worth the same as a real one. And before you jump to your keyboards, you sad wannabe hacks, just think – you know exactly what I mean.
Ever wondered why companies that specialise in these areas (PR, Media, Promo, …) never (ever) win?? It’s because only certain agencies understand the formula for entries, and the ones that do are the ones with the most practice: ad agencies.
This is not to diminish the efforts of the Leo Burnetts Sydneys of the world.
No hang on, actually, it is. Because it is suspicious at best, and an indictment at worst, that they can only win metal in categories that very few other ad agencies (and even fewer non-ad-agencies) are entering.
Yep.
