I.D.E.A.S the first Australian agency with mobisite
Creative agency I.D.E.A.S. claimed an Australian first today with the launch of its mobisite: Ideassydney.mobi
With more mobile subscriptions than people in Australia and reflecting the growing trend of mobile web browsing, this site launches at a time when marketers are increasingly turning to mobile as a revenue and relationship building opportunity.
As I.D.E.A.S. managing partner Adrian Leppard explains: “Traditional websites are often a pain to view on a mobile phone. Lots of time loading and scrolling and way too much information for a small screen.”
“With mobile marketing about to take off in Australia, we were surprised that we couldn’t find any Australian creative agencies with a mobisite. After all it’s hard to talk to a client about mobile marketing if you don’t fully embrace the media yourself.”
Adds creative director Max Landrak: “Mobile marketing is still in its infancy here but is set for massive growth. A mobile is always within reach, it has one identifiable user, it allows for augmented reality, and has a built-in payment method. We’re looking forward to doing some exciting work in this area.”

Ummm, this is so wrong it makes the snuggie look right. Plenty of companies, agencies included, have created .mobi sites. Most have better things to do though than write a press release about it.
So what….?
Here’s a much better mobile site implementation:

That site is utter rubbish. No idea about how to design for mobile.
Why not just get a phone that can see normal web pages easily?
Technology is supposed to move forward!
Mobi sites are redundant mostly these days (if you have an Iphone/blackberry/HTC/NokiaNseries), hope it wasn’t too much effort or money.
You don’t even need a friggin URL to say that your site is mobile ready. It’s redundant, you should’ve optimised your existing site to detect a mobile user and show them that version automatically instead of having to type a different URL. duh.
Like the I.D.E.A.S steps but it’s not a new idea. See Jame Webb Young’s book from the 50s or 60s. He was big in JWT and set out the 5 steps then – Ingest, Digest, Incubate, Illuminate, Evaluate….
Did you know there are more mobile phones in the world than, like, anything?
What a non-story.
What a crap mobile site.
Pick your press releases, you dumb asses
