The Commonwealth Bank, via agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, is launching a series of spots this Sunday, the first featuring Janet Hoon, a personal relationship manager at their Chatswood branch.
The Bank also wanted to thank their customers for helping to make them Money Magazine’s Bank of the Year.

this campaign is so awful, it makes me want to kill everyone in the world
I just poo’d a bit in my mouth
Hey stoopid customer person, we’re a better bank than you are a customer.
What total rubbish. if Goodbys have sent this to CB either they’re idiots or they’re taking us for idiots.
To 8,07.
No Goodbys are taking the Commonwealth Bank marketing department for idiots.
CAN I JUST SAY IN CAPITAL LETTERS, FUCK THE WORLD.
When you get Jean Pierre Jeunet and Erik Vervogedededen together in a room, and you come out with something this shit, there’s only one thing to say.
BRING ON THE NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST FUCKIN QUICK, MANNNNNN.
I’m hoping this gets impounded under Victoria’s anti-Hoon legislation.
As a dissatisfied customer of this rip-off institution, I’d just like to ask that they stop making me pay bank fees if it results in horrible work like this.
The fact that they’ve won ‘bank of the year’ only means they’re not as bad as the rest of them. It doesn’t mean they’re good.
The problem with all the banks and all their advertising is that they try too hard.
Or not hard enough.
Either way, none of what I see is credible. I kind of think that if banks acted more like banks in their ads, we’d believe them more.
Let’s face it, people are never going to love banks. We couldn’t get by without them, but we’re never going to love them.
I don’t want to sound like the dumb bloke in the corner at the focus group, but my message to all the banks – especially the Commonwealth – is very simple. If you’ve got something to say, just say it in plain English. And if you haven’t got anything to say, which is most of the time, please don’t say it.
Is “Determined to be different” a determined attempt to say; “We try harder”?
If so, which bank and their agency need to try harder?
With Ads like this who needs enemies…With banks like this YOU CAN!!
