Hero Time concept for Bridge to Brisbane fun run a smashing success surpassing last year’s total by 221% via Junior and News Queensland
Case Study: Every dollar you raise for charity takes one second off your race time. That’s your Hero Time. And that was Junior’s solution to sluggish fundraising in Brisbane’s annual Bridge to Brisbane charity fun run. Now the final figures are in, it proved to be a pretty handy solution.
The idea had immediate impact with donations up over 300% in the first three weeks of fundraising. The former participant fundraising record of $355,000 was passed with 7 weeks to go and the final total of $785,137 was more than double the 2011 record. The Sunday Mail, who started the event back in 1997, also made a large contribution taking the grand total to almost $900,000.
Just under 40,000 people took part in the event. The runners with the best Hero Times for the 5km and 10km race were awarded a new car courtesy of Suzuki.
