Happy Soldiers and Virgin Money put it on the card – 200 flights around the world to give away
Happy Soldiers, Sydney has released their first work for foundation client Virgin Money with campaigns for the new Virgin Flyer Credit Card, the No Annual Fee Credit Card and the High Interest Saver Account.
The Virgin Flyer Credit Card leads the launch program. It is the first Virgin credit card that earns points to fly on Virgin airlines. The campaign idea puts the card to the test. Virgin Money paid for the entire advertising campaign with their very own new Virgin Flyer Credit Card. In doing so they earned enough points for over 200 flights around the world. And they’re giving them all away.
VIEW THE COMMERCIAL:
Every single thing was bought on the card. It paid for the 107 cast, 60crew, props, costumes, and animals; director, music and cameras; rightdown to the coffees. The card also paid for the billboards, DM, onlineand print. That’s all the production and all the media. Every elementgained more points for more flights for Virgin to give away.
The idea is at once a celebration of Virgin Money’s arrival, a productdemonstration, a sales promotion, and a typically Virgin act ofgenerosity.

oh dear…..
Not a bad way to launch a new company and to relaunch an agency. Nice work from agency and client.
The future of advertising. Stop trying to force opinions and instead prove what the product does. I like it on so many levels and wish that all clients had the same insight as Virgin to allow us do work like this.
First work for foundation client?
I thought Happy Soldiers had been around for a while?
This is rubbish
Great idea.
Great idea in principal, but it doesn’t totally make sense.
For example, I don’t know of many casting agents or actors etc who accept credit cards.
Still, it’s better than anything I have done for the last two years.
It’s an interesting thought, but not sure it’s really that compelling.
Look! An actual idea! And it showcases the benefits of the product cleverly!
It may not be visually stunning, but it’s gonna do better than 90% of the things us chumps come up with.
So, let me get this straight…..the new Virgin Credit Card lets you buy stuff………..I’m lost for words. Incredible and insightful on so many levels.
Yep, that’s pretty clever.
They sell in some decent ideas over there. Someone has the midas touch with clients.
Great work staffy. Only bad part was seeing a bit of your head in one of the shots. The hair length is coming along nicely but the colour is all wrong. SEPN.
Average. Very average. Doesn’t bode well for the Soldiers.
the camels are still there? even after the camels not accepting credit card?
Soldiers, don’t take any notice of these negative clowns, they wouldnt know a good idea (case in point). The idea of the idea is brilliant.
It’s a really clever idea and it’s really well done. Apparently only a one day shoot. Well done Ben Lawrence and The Happy Soldiers.
By Golly, that DOP with his face pressed firmly to the camera eyepiece looks uncannily like Jack Vaughan.
Got beaten by HS in another pitch a couple of months ago. Liked their idea for that and like this idea. Good work. Can’t complain when you get beaten by ideas (even if you don’t agree) and not silly games.
I’m sorry but this is not good – and a wasted opportunity.
A simple question that may have helped if it was asked:
What do credit card holders really want from their bank?
I don’t think it’s frequent flyer miles from the client buying the ad on their credit card.
Great thought. Nice to see a brand doing rather than just saying. It’s the sort of thinking we should be seeing much more of. Good on you soldiers.
Nice idea. Good to see a brand doing rather than just saying for a change. We should see more of this sort of thinking. I’d be happy to be a soldier.
I hate it when douchebags like 11.58 start their posts with “I’m sorry” and then follow it up with “what do credit card holders blah blah wank pish, toss”
This is nice work, simple, charming, on brand and they’re giving stuff away.
It will work and win awards, now back to your sales presenters you farkin muppets
12:04 and 12:36 should get together for coffee – you certainly have a lot in common.
Pants
So I can use the Virgin Credit card to buy stuff? Like ads? and earn points for flights? Doesn’t my Visa Qantas Frequent Flyer card can’t do that too?
This concept is simple:
They used a card they own to earn points for an airline they own by paying for the ad they made to advertise the card they own and now they’ve used the points they earned to buy flights on the airline they own which you can have if you get the card.
1.18 if you think that will win awards – then you need to buy a pair of camels on your Virgin Credit Card and hump yourself all the way to Perth…..git!

Did you see what won at cannes this year or were you too busy working on that shelf wobbler. Fucktard.
Killer. Staffie. You guys are doing us proud. SEPN.
Top quality as always. Good one soldiers!
I like this idea. Thank you Soldiers for a fresh take in a category that never tires of exhuming old cliches. If i can be constructive… the ad itself could have just a tiny bit more of a smile in it at the end.
On another note, it troubles me that many people on this blog don”t like this work. It”s clear, simple and original. What the hell do you want?
Achingly average
