If you work in the industry and would like to have your birthday acknowledged on the CB Blog, make sure you are a Facebook friend of Lynchy and have your birthday publicly listed on your Facebook profile. Or email your details and a pic (or on behalf of an industry friend) to: michael@campaignbrief.com. If it’s today, do it before 10am.

So with the Furby precedent up and running, are we now going to be subjected to regular birthday announcements like some fucking school newsletter? Stop it now.
RIP campaign brief blog.
Hi Lynchy,
Just wanted to let you know I think the birthdays thing is a smart way to shift the tone of the blog a bit away from the neck-stomping, poppy-cutting cattiness Anonymous usually dishes out. You can’t hate on someone for having a birthday. It’s their birthday.
Healthy critique is essential and I hope it continues, but knocking shit just because you can probably does more harm than good. And even though I love the blog, the comments section has all the appeal of a bus crash.
The web is the web, and ad guys will always be ego-driven and competitive. You can ‘t change that. But any effort to friendly things up is more than welcome.
So for what it’s worth, nice work.
Lynchy, there seems to be a mistake.
Someone uploaded a picture of Brad Pitt instead of Shane.
Time to wind up the fags Dawson.
Dawson. What the hell is that on your arm? If someone’s retouched a muscle on there they’ve done a pretty good job.
Happy birthday to all you guys – 15th must be a creative date.
Lynchy wholeheartedly agree with SG “healthy critique is essential …… but knocking shit just because you can…..” has let the industry down, and the huge contribution you’ve made to it.
Hears to more healthy critique, more positive encouragement – and a damn good birthday to you all today.
I think the execution of each of these people’s births could have been done a lot better.
@SG,
There’s a lot of knocking on this blog because there’s a lot of really substandard work produced by this industry. Like most people, I’d love it if every piece of work was funny, charming, entertaining and persuasive, but unfortunately most Australian work is very, very average or try-hard at best. The occasional gem shines through, and I’m the first to praise it when it does. And, funny thing, those rare pieces seem to attract mostly unanimously glowing reviews.
What happened to Furby’s birthday announcement? Withdrawn by ‘request’ of the subject? Attract too much hate mail?
2:39 – agree, agree, agree

I’m sure you’ve personally done a shedload of amazingly brilliant stuff this year that deserves high praise on this blog, but this post was all about wishing some folks a happy birthday. So, how about raising a cup of shut-the-fuck-up and getting off your soapbox.
Wish the people in this industry would put more effort into supporting each other as opposed to hating people they don’t even know!
Happy birthday guys!
Nice ploy to get more facebook friends lynchy
Oh, 10:36 you silly little boy. If you’d followed the commentary on this thread you’d have noticed that somebody else raised the subject of negativity. I merely commented on that – and, as you clearly failed to notice, in a calm, measured tone. Unlike yours. Irony, anyone? Look, if you want to have a nice kiddies birthday party on the Campaign Brief blog, that’s fine, go ahead. Why not buy each other a nice big chocolate cake decorated with icing, sparklers and lots of candles. Hey, hire a clown to make balloon animals! And of course, a jumping castle. Go ahead. I just happen to think SG raised a far more interesting and important, not to say relevant issue for the ad industry.
What? Birthdays are so unoriginal. Seen them before. Every year. Oh man this industry is so bad. At least have your birthday in another month. Oh man Birthdays always happen. Fail.
