robson.png‘How Goodby got its groove back’ is just one reading of Derek Robson’s measure of influence on the legendary agency. ‘Agent Provocateur’ equally sums up his vision in radically transforming the agency from one known for its award winning TVC’s to an innovative multi-platform ideas agency.

While in Sydney next month, Robson will share his experiences with APG members on ‘Agency Change – The Role That Planning Should Play’ at the first Ideas Exchange for the new year, on Wednesday 10 February at The Fringe Bar, Oxford Street, Paddington.

“We’re really looking forward to hosting this special event. It’s agreat opportunity to hear ideas on how to change your own agency andhow we can change as an industry. Goodby’s have maintained a greatcreative reputation over a long period of time and their transformationhas only enhanced this reputation.  As an ex-Planner, Derek will alsohave some interesting views on how he has shaped his opinions on agencymanagement.” says APG Chairman, Jeremy Nicholas.

Robson spent13 years at BBH London, moving from Planner to Deputy Planning Directorand finally, Managing Director. Under his leadership the Agency twicewon Campaign Magazine’s Agency of the year award and the Agency grewits income by 30%.

Off the back of this success, Robson wasrecruited to join Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in 2005, with aspecific remit; to reposition the agency for the future. His strategicvision has been credited for transforming the agency from traditionalcreative shop (think ‘Got Milk’ campaign) to multiplatform creativeagency. Robson’s clients include Nintendo, NBA and Quaker Foods and hehas responsibility for the agency’s strategic functions.
