George Vargas new CD at Grey Vietnam
Aussie expat George Vargas, who up to a year ago was CD at BWM Dubai, has joined Grey Group Vietnam as creative director, tasked with raising the agency’s creative product.
Vargas, who started his career at BAM-SSB in Sydney, is elatedabout being in Ho Chi Minh City and finds the energy of the cityextremely contagious. Says Vargas: “It’s a city that’s full of life and hope. Greatcreativity comes from having lots of energy and plenty of joy. And thistown isn’t short of either. Ho Chi Minh City has the sparkle thatSingapore had perhaps 10 years ago. And that sparkle will help GreyGroup Vietnam become creatively famous. We are already creating somekiller campaigns and it’s only the beginning. I strongly believe wewill be the ‘Mother’ of the East.”
Reportingto Sandip Rakhit, CEO of Grey Group Vietnam, Vargas will work on theagency’s large roster of clients that include leading international andlocal brand names such as British American Tobacco, Pantene (P&G),Diageo, Bayer, Carlsberg Breweries, TNT, Samsung, Great Eastern Life,Vinaphone and Bao Viet.
Says Rakhit: “George is sure toinject personality into this agency. We’re young, passionate andrearing to go, and George brings his own brand of creative inspirationthat will take us to the next level and simultaneously strengthen ouroffering across all disciplines.”
Vargas has claimed numerous accolades at most of the region’s andworld’s renowned advertising award shows – Cannes, The One Show, New YorkFestivals, London International Awards, The Singapore Creative CircleAwards, Communication Arts Awards and Caxton Awards and manyof his campaigns have been published in Lurzer’s Archive. He has also tutored advertising students at Sydney’s AWARD School and held 7 Painting and Photography exhibitions in Sydney.
