Fun is afoot for Thong Day via Junior, Brisbane
The humble thong, it stands for lots of things, summer, fun, freedom, campground showers. But on Thong Day October 1st, it stands for so much more. The inaugural Youngcare Thong Day will raise money for the 6,500 young Australians with high care needs living in aged care.
Youngcare charged Brisbane agency, Junior with the task of telling everyone about the joys of feeling the wind in their (toe) hair for a good cause. Junior created a campaign idea that gave people the freedom (and the credit) to celebrate Thong Day however they liked by throwing their own thong-a-thon.
The campaign was spearheaded by a 30 second TVC directed by Sean Gilligan at BlackLab. Featuring five different ‘thong-a-thons’ and shot in one continuous take, the TVC used a Rube Goldberg-esque machine to connect the five ‘a-thons’. The cast was made up of Youngcare supporters and staff, some manned pulleys, some played ping pong and others Riverdanced like their lives depended on it. But they all worked together to make it happen.
