Foxtel has thrown its ad account worth several million dollars up for pitch after parting ways with its ad agency, Three Drunk Monkeys [pictured left] reports Simon Canning exclusively in the Media section of today’s Australian.
According to Canning, the subscription TV broadcaster confirmed that the two companies had decided to split, placing valuable business in play. Sources close to the pitch say that Foxtel has shortlisted Clemenger BBDO and M&C Saatchi for the business.

Good move. All the ads were looking the same.
The monkeys did a remarkable job for Foxtel.
Not a very Merry Foxmas for the Monkeys.
3DM – so not right now!
I’m sure the Monkeys are thankful for the start that Foxtel was able to give them. But It’s probably time both moved on. Monkeys look like they’ve grown sufficiently that this won’t hurt too much.
Bet 3DM announce big news about more wins before you can say “jealous pieces of vindictive shit”
The Monkeys did a great job for FOXTEL, tough piece of business. Good luck to them.
Anyone who has worked on Foxtel before will know that this is a good move from the Monkeys. Good luck to Clems and M&C.
12:12: The caps give you away.
after Virgin Blue and DJs im not sure either clems or M&C have any pants left to pull down.
what on earth will they do?
@1:53 — spot on.
@1:58, I work at Clems and our pants are so far up still, my arse hole is getting sore.
At least it’s not@ogilvy
@3.36 – is that you Dawso???
I loved their I love my iQ spot.. it summed up my feelings..! and eofys too… fun, likeable, memorable stuff.
That’s great 6:02, and if you ever want a job in the creative department you need to realise why they are crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrap.

Well spotted.
Too bad monkeys, but I’m not sure this isnt such a bad thing. And you did do a good job on this.
Come on people forget the spin – that is a $2M plus revenue hit – that has to hurt and it will.
People will have to go now – which is ultimately sad, but a fact of life.
The Monkeys have done a good job on a hard client, but it proves (along with the Toyota news) that the “cool” shops aren’t all beer and skittles either.
This is a hard business and only the very best stay at the top for long.
FYI – Foxtel will move to either Clems or M&C and then be looking for an agency again in 9-10 months….
Eofys was a brilliant idea. Loved it, and I think the monkeys did a stirling job.
Gotta say though, when I saw the Foxmas ad I could smell client. Didn’t work as well.
Props to 3DM because its a tough client (with some major bullshit internal communication issues) and they managed to push Foxtel to buy hybrid idea/retail creative, however Foxtel has new blood running the show and a lot of it is ex agency.
In the current environment (TIVO, digital TV, online TV streaming) whoever picks this account up is going to face it harder…. but at least these will be clients who want to see the brand succeed and who will do their best to champion good creative.
