Congrats to the winners but I can’t believe they have made this quarterly. Completely devalues the work. Doesn’t seem special in any way.
I agree. I don’t care that they say technology moves too fast for it to be yearly. Great ideas shouldn’t go out of fashion in 6 months! This just rewards shit ideas using new technology. Bad decision.
You may think that quarterly judging only awards technology, but this is misleading. The fact is that most judges these days face a barrage of entries when viewed on an annual basis. By breaking it up into quarterly chunks, judges can spend more time on fewer entries so that they all get the attention they deserve. This means great ideas aren’t overlooked through judging fatigue. Given that most interactive ideas are time consuming to view, this can only be good news for agencies who wish to show off their great work. As a judge of this years awards, I wholeheartedly support this new way of looking at the work.
Derwent you might want to have a read of the One Show Interactive site before you slag it off.
The entries are JUDGED quarterly, not awarded. The work the judges decide is worthy of a finalist goes on to the pencil round in April, where work is awarded the same way it always has been.
Daily awards…
The quarterly judging process is a great idea. Stops judges from thinking “this looks so old” because they saw it 15 months ago.
How the hell did that Nissan crap get a finalist?
Who’s judging this shit?
