where do you start?
Clichéd copy. Cliché idea. Expected better from D5.
just terrible
so D5 have started their decline creatively..this is no better than a cheap mitsu ‘love that car’ spot…expected way better from D5 & all the car nuts over there in bess & seeto… your ads for VW were better nige
nice to see this stylised approach, think it’s original actually
Just shows that most marketing directors at car firms are conservative, unimaginative people who want to play it safe to get a bigger job overseas. I’m sure this wasn’t the first idea they presented.
The tunnel sequence looks amazing. Not sure about the white environment
Hmmm……
Landcruiser “bad side of the road” – Holden Monaro – Scion
So…. ultimately, you just can’t get away from previous car TVCs. Something is going to look or feel similar.
Stylised car TVC is not original. Thanks Jesse. and Jesse…fix your own link or this PR excercise will be ALL D5….
The Mitsu 3D cars look like crap compared to this, but the D5 name would have brought a better budget…..yes ?
Lets see if it sells the car with the largest arse in the world.
Get your hand off it Felix. Well done everyone involved
Yes, it’s hard to do a good, original car commercial, isn’t it? In this instance it was wheel out the old ‘Two cars in one’ strategy and execution. The over-ambitious production has not done the simple (if unoriginal) idea any favours. In the end it’s just a WTFWT blur.
There’s a truth in there I bet – two different teams competing to make two different cars. A truth that’s been shrouded however in bullshit “creativity”.
Jesse’s a top director and a top bloke, think he’s done well here. Looks nice and well done.
bp
not interesting. anything is possible in 3D.
Droga’s didn’t win it. BMF resigned it. It is the impossible task.
…plop
According to the credits there is a Creative Chairman, ECD and CD responsible and they only manage to produce this? Am I missing something here?
i thought you lot were meant to all have award winning car experience?!
Visually different.
Just needs an idea.
No Andy, it’s got an idea, but the try-hard visuals overwhelm it.
merde!
The Marlboro Cowboy from Vegas versus Julius Caesar from Rome in a mano a mano red against blue computer animated smackdown on the streets of Paris as a grand metaphor for the dueling models of Renault.
Wow, back in January when Nobby said, “Here we have a real chance to genuinely impact the footprint of a brand at every stage in its contact with the consumer.” who knew that he and his creative team would drop acid in February and March and make ‘contact with the consumer’ on a purely psychedelic level, engaging the substantive talents of Animal Logic and Jesse Bradstreet to create a vision so original and so surreal as to be completely unintelligible to anyone ever even considering buying a Renault, and in Australia that’s already an absurdly small audience. I mean let’s face it, the French do allot of things well, there’s food, and fashion, and food, but cars?
Bon chance D5, and bon voyage on the road to nowhere. Even Publicis wouldn’t take this account, and crikey, they’re French. Now that I think about it, dropping acid was probably the way to go, so good on ya Nobbs! At least it’s better than performing seppuku after losing your share of Toyota to Dentsu, an agency that after the crisis in Japan may never actually open in Australia.
this is average auto wallpaper at best but probably a bit unfair to come out and bash them as individuals and as an agency when you consider what most other places churn out no?
is jesse a director? thought he was a visual fx supervisor????????
Sorry, but this looks like a collaboration between a planner and an animator
I thought it was ok. Some pretty slick stuff in there.
“Which side are you on”…. Erm, noone’s side. I just want a car that ticks the right boxes for me. I am sick of these really boring propositions on products “which one will you choose”, “who’s side are you on”, “how will you decide”. LAME LAME LAME. Enough already. Give us an idea instead of trying to compare products against each other. Yes, the blame lies with marketing managers/directors also. They all need to grow some balls.
Hmmm … actually seems all the work was done in post – don’t see any mention of the hard working post folk – animator? vfx supervisor? Compositor? vfx team?
I love remys comment
Nice work Jesse and Animal
Hey why don’t you guys take a look at the past and the crap work that Spinach and Mr Morabito did and then maybe give these guys a high five instead of slamming them… baby steps from past Spinach crap is ok.
