Draftfcb lures 303 Sydney GAD and planner Simon Murphy for national strategy planner role

Draftfcb Australia has snared 303 Sydney group account director and strategy planner Simon Murphy to the newly created role of national strategy planner, to be based in Sydney.

He will be based in the Sydney office and will report to Draftfcb general manager Tim Higginson.

Murphy joins Draftfcb from 303 where he has worked for the past three years as a group account director and strategy planner on businesses including the Federal Government, Cerebos, Man Investments and Fujitsu. Prior to 303, he worked as a senior account director and as a strategy planner at JWT Sydney. He has also worked in London and Paris for agencies including Publicis and McCann-Erickson.

At Draftfcb, Murphy will work on strategy planning for clients including Honda, Lindt, Beiersdorf, Headspace and Vitasoy.

“Simon has a rare background with a heavy emphasis on strategy work, as well as senior account leadership roles,” said Higginson. “His dual careers make him the right talent to bring more value to our clients and the agency.”

Murphy said he was attracted to the national role because of Draftfcb’s integrated offer and working principles. “Using fully integrated resources to create change for clients that impacts their business results is highly attractive in today’s communications environment,” he said.
