Dollhouse Content creates new tv campaign produced by Engine for Buzz Insurance
This Sunday, Buzz Insurance, IAG’s direct insurance online only brand will unveil a new creative direction as well as a new logo.
The new TVC features a pair of bees (Ray and Jeremy) discussing Buzz Insurance’s comprehensive car insurance policies. They stand before a beehive wall, enhancing the natural association between ‘buzz’ and the bees to aid brand recall and recognition.
Buzz Insurance’s new logo maintains its familiar orange and purple brand colours, which are featured as shapes reminiscent of wings.
Buzz Insurance is an online only insurer that enables customers to tailor their level of insurance and with that how much they pay. This strategic positioning is a key message in the new creative.
This is the first execution of the brand’s new creative direction. The media buy is focused toward Australia’s east coast.
Campaign details:
- The lead media is television with 30″ spots
- Radio
- Online display
- Search
The following agencies worked on the campaign:
Creative and Strategy: Dollhouse Content
Production Company: Engine
Director: Myles Conti
Media Agency: Mediacom

Confusing crap
Oh deary me!!! What a mess.
Bee-wildering
i have a feeling the creatives watched ‘Mac v PC’ one too many times.
Utter rubbish!!!
Oh dear, 2012 is not of to a great start is it.
Myles Conti is directing through Engine? What happened to Conti bros?
Not bad, pretty funny for the category.
Gave me half a chuckle.
Bah, bunch of negative peeps here, I thought it was kinda funny. Well done.
I actually laughed. Nice work.
Bee’s, honey, guard dog, insurance. Makes sense.
Beats the usual boring insurance adverts. Thought it was pretty amusing
Really great work! Very very funny, Well written,
cool vfx and spot on directing, this is more like it. Give us more please.
Mac v PC !!!! how on earth can you guys praise blatant robbery???
It’s the most original well scripted piece I’ve seen in years. (Check my title).
How is it Mac pc? They’re both for the same product. Just because it’s a direct
to camera w/ 2 guys in it… C’mon, a bit of a long bow there. I found it clever and refreshing in a category that usually bores me to tears. Nice job.
“Quote” > “to BEE or not to BEE…” I see what you did there 😀
Who are the bees supposed to be? Punters or workers?
If punters, they don’t come across as being sooo busy that that have to use Buzz to get their online insurance (and the example they use is not that cheap anyway) so saving time and money.
And if they’re worker bees, how come they’re so surprised about their own business ferf@ck’s sake?
Bee minus.
Wny are the ads switched? There was one with a dog before.
Well when I watched the ad I thought it was a confused, unfunny mess with no actual jokes in it, but after reading the positive comments on here I’VE COMPLETELY CHANGED MY MIND.
Thank you anonymous commenters! Now I’m off to buy some insurance!
It’s crap, but it doesn’t bear any resemblance to Mac v PC.
Just when you thought that the bar in Australian advertising could not be lowered any further, bzzzzzzz.
Embarrassment and paying the bills seem to go hand in hand these days, and denial is not just a river in Egypt.
Fair enough – we have to write terrible ads sometimes, but WHY would you send a media release?!
Why would you PR this. I’d be keeping it well away from any reel. And Engine….why do you want this going out with your name on it.
Punters will love these, ad wankers won’t. They’re retail, they’ll work and they made me laugh.
About as funny as the Eagle boys ads the same actor is in.
It is what it is people and it’s not that bad… in fact it’s ok.
At least it’s selling me something and the fat prick is pretty funny.
Much worse out there.
Nice job I thought it was quite funny – liked the quick quote gag. Love the negative comments too, when a content agency’s doing a better of a making a tvc, it’s not surprising.
Saw another one of these on TV last night and it was farkin’ hilarious. My wife laughed her head off with the guy dancing.
Great ad especially the dance one!! Insurance is so boring as soon as any ads for it come on I switch off but this ad even had me google it to watch it again. Great job to the writers and actors. Finally someone gets it and writes a cute entertaining ad for a completely boring topic.
