Curious film director Miki Magasiva directs pop star Jordan Knight for Old Navy campaign via Crispin Porter + Bogusky Los Angeles

Curious Film director Miki Magasiva recently completed a campaign via Crispin Porter + Bogusky Los Angeles for U.S. apparel giant Old Navy.

Shot in Sydney and staring 90s boy-band New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) pop star Jordon Knight, the spot was written and conceived by CP+B LA, where Kiwi Cameron Harris is creative director.

In the commercial, Knight literally croons through Old Navy’s Summer catalog, with tunes about cargo shorts, bikinis tops and flip flops. The push coincides with the launch of Old Navy’s online catalog, available only to Old Navy fans on Facebook. A TVC is set to follow, and site visitors can download a free club remix of the songs.

The spot, which was selected as ‘Creativity Pick of the Day’, features Curious Film executive producer Pete Grasse performing a cameo appearance as himself alongside Curious’ Pat Chong-Nee with director, Magasiva, as back-up Jordanaires.

Says Magasiva: “What a great project to be a part of. When people are having that much fun you can’t help but jump in – I think our enjoyment of the production process comes through the end product. Jordan is one of the most professional, yet down to earth people, I’ve worked with and now, I know all the NKOTB songs!”

Says Grasse: “It was a fantastic experience to have CP+B and Jordan working with our talented Curious team. A distinctly fun shoot from top to tail. We were inspired by the opportunity.”
