Comedy sketch writers needed for new ABC1 TV show developed and produced by Jungleboys
Jungleboys is developing a new sketch comedy series for ABC1 and is seeking expressions of interest from writers.
Says Jason Burrows, executive producer: “We can’t say too much because the show is still in development, however what we can say is the new series is a pure sketch show with no apparent linking device or theme. While we are open to reoccurring storylines and characters, much of it will be made up of stand-alone pieces stemming from interesting ideas and concepts.”
For a good reference, click here and email expressions of interest by Thursday 14 December to: sketches@jungleboys.com.au.
“It is a great opportunity for us to work with some new exciting writers, and we hope that there are some creatives who are willing to empty their bottom drawers.”
“While Jungleboys will produce the show, the ABC will have the final say on which writers will be selected so “Don’t shoot the messenger, Translation, even if they reject you, still send us all your best commercial scripts.”

That sketch example is a re-working of a Horrible Histories sketch, yes?

Not really, no.
Ok! I like it. It’s very funny, just reminded me of it!
hmmmm – don’t make it too funny, contemporary, or american it seems
Honestly, watching horrible histories isnt that funny. Mostly sarcasim and the way the script is written; not clearly combining the characters needed to make the audience laugh. If this is what the producers are seeking for the screenplay to be then its not worth it. You might as well have something with a unique comedy like Mr. Bean or Keeping Up Appearances or Are You Being Served, now those shows have really good storylines with a purpose to last for the next ten seasons.
